If you’ve been in the shop recently, you’ll have seen our walls bursting with colour - that’s thanks to the amazing work of Ugs Artwork, whose bold, expressive pieces are now proudly on display at Slow Century Records.

We love supporting home-grown creativity, and Slow Century prides itself on working with talented local artists, giving them a platform right here on Knowle High Street. Showcasing Ugs’ artwork is exactly what we’re all about - community, creativity, and celebrating the culture that surrounds music.

Ugs Artwork (find them on Facebook at Ugs Artwork) has been creating unique artwork since school days, experimenting with different styles, subjects and techniques. Although you’ll spot portraits inspired by iconic figures from music, Ugs’ Artwork range goes far beyond that - including pieces influenced by film, sci-fi universes, football culture, and plenty more.

Before focusing fully on painting, Ugs Artwork worked as a window dresser for major brands such as Topshop, Topman, House of Fraser and Zara, and has completed a wide range of interior design projects. Their artistic journey even took them to Australia, working as a mobile display artist for shops and salons. That sense of design, composition and colour really shows in the pieces now brightening up our walls.

All artwork displayed in-store is available to purchase, and if you’re interested, just ask at the counter - we have all the details. Each piece brings its own personality to the shop, adding to the atmosphere and creating a perfect backdrop for crate-digging.
